About
The injections are composed mainly of hyaluronic acid which is naturally produced by your body.
We work using the Russian Technique. The process involves placing tiny droplets of filler, injected vertically into the lip. This technique widens, lifts and opens the lip body and accentuates the cupid’s bow, while maintaining a natural shape.
Most people tolerate the injections well. We apply a strong numbing cream that contains Lidocaine prior to injections.
Pre-treatment advice:
- It’s crucial that you don’t consume alcohol at least 24 hours before undergoing Botox injections, as the substance can thin the blood and increase the possibility of bruising. Coffee may also have a similar effect and it is not advisable.
- You should also avoid medications like blood thinners or anti-inflammatories.
- Clients who have previously undergone the procedure at another salon will require a consultation prior to booking. It is not always possible to correct someone else’s work. We do not dissolve existing fillers as it is an invasive procedure.
Post treatment advice:
- Please do not apply make-up after treatment to avoid risk of infection.
- Do apply a non-perfumed moisturizer such as vaseline or lanolin cream.
- Use a cotton bud or an applicator and apply gently without pressing or rubbing excessively.
- Avoid rubbing or massaging of the injected area for 24h after treatment, including facials (ideally avoid up to a week after treatment).
- Avoid kissing for at least 24h after treatment.
- Do be gentle with your skin while washing for 24 hours.
- Avoid excessive or very strenuous exercise for at least 24 hours after treatment.
- Avoid high temperatures for at least 24 hours after treatment (including hot beverages).
- Don’t use a drinking straw as it puts pressure on the lips.
- On the first day stick to foods that are easy to eat and chew, this means you’re less likely to have to wipe your lips and disturb the injection site.
- Drink plenty of water.
- Don’t drink alcohol up to 24 hours post treatment.
- Avoid vitamin E supplements for a couple of days as this can increase the risk of bruising.
- Don’t use an ice pack on your lips.
Short-term side-effects can include:
- a small amount of bleeding from the injection site
- bruising
- swelling
- tenderness
There is no need to be alarmed when experiencing mild post treatment side effects which are not getting worse over time. Mild swelling and bruising is to be expected and slight discomfort is normal up to 7 days post treatment.
If you have any concern please do not message us without providing a photo or video as we cannot asses the risk without seeing your lips. You may be required to visit the salon if we cannot do this with the image you provide.
In any case do contact us if you feel concerned about your lips.
